About
Afterrealism is a small geospatial software consultancy based in Canberra, working with government, research, and commercial organisations across Australia. We build maps, data platforms, and cloud systems to a standard set inside Geoscience Australia and CSIRO and we publish what we learn along the way. Our focus areas: Web mapping: we design and build interactive web maps, spatial APIs, and tile services with open source tools like MapLibre, deck.gl, GDAL, and PostGIS. Data platforms: we build cloud-native geospatial pipelines and infrastructure - ETL, vector tiles, COG and PMTiles - deployed at the edge. Earth observation: we apply machine learning to satellite and aerial imagery, taking methods from research through to production systems. We also build our own products, including GeoCanvas, a collaborative web map editor. Visit our website to learn more about the work we do.
