About
The Pacific Geospatial Women Network (PGWN) is a regional network empowering women across the Pacific through geospatial technology, capacity building and community-based mapping. We work with women’s groups, communities, geospatial professionals and regional partners to strengthen the use of geospatial data in decision-making. Our work includes training in GIS, QGIS, QField and participatory mapping, supporting communities to map coastal resources such as mangroves, agricultural initatives and fishing grounds. We also promote the integration of local and traditional knowledge with geospatial data. Through activities across Pacific Island countries, PGWN supports women’s participation and leadership in areas such as ocean literacy, coastal management, blue carbon and climate resilience.
